APR Handball Club will take on Groupe Scolaire Saint Aloys Rwamagana today in Rwamagana looking to win and close the gap on league leaders Police to five points.

The army side are bidding for a first league title since 2009. Despite making a promising start to this season, they were recently given more reasons to improve their game after losing 50-48 against the defending champions, who stretched their lead at the top to eight points.

Unbeaten Police, who have played two matches more than third-placed APR, lead the table with 18 points in six games, while APR are third with 10 points in four games, one point behind second-placed ADEGI Gituza.

With Police resting this weekend, Anaclet Bagirishya’s side have an opportunity to cut the gap to five points if they bag maximum points against fifth-placed St. Aloys de Rwamagana, who also have 10 points.

"St. Aloys are a very tough side and can beat anyone so we have to be cautious but my players fully understand the importance of winning on Saturday,” said Anaclet Bagirishya.

Elsewhere, College Inyemeramihigo have a double header at home in Rubavu, first they will face Kigoma in morning before playing University of Rwanda’s College of Arts and Social Sciences (UR-CASS) in the afternoon, while Kigoma and UR-CASS will face off in the other match.
