Dear Editor,
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the leadership of this country for their efforts towards uplifting the status of women in society.

Long ago, it was unheard of for women to take up leadership positions in what was originally called "a man’s world.”

Rwanda is exceptional because it is now a model country in promoting women empowerment through promoting women rights.

As we begin events to mark 16 days of women activism, therefore, let us continue to advocate for equality basing on this year’s theme:

"Women Rights are Human Rights”. The campaign will raise awareness about gender based violence and this will remind all stakeholders to prevent violence.

Other countries should as well stand up against gender based violence as a strategy to bolster women empowerment.
