APR FC has admitted that he was a "relieved” man after seeing his team beat Mukura 3-2 in the national football league on Friday at Huye Stadium, to go temporarily to the top of the table ahead of Rayon Sports clash with Police FC on Saturday.

Midfielder Patrick Sibomana put APR ahead in the sixth minute before Kevin Hakizimana equalized ten minutes later, but striker Issa Bigirimana made it 2-1 in the 31st minute and Helve Rugwiro increased APR’s lead in the 51st minute while Ally Niyonzima scored for the host in the 90+2 minute.

The win temporarily took APR on top of table with 38 points from 17 matches while Rayon Sports, who were due to face fourth-placed Police on Saturday, dropped to second, two points behind, and a game in hand.

"Honestly, we’re a bit relieved because it was a difficult game to win and I am thankful to the players that we managed to get three points. We were determined to win the game and we are looking ahead to the next matches,” Mulisa said after the match.

Former APR and Amavubi forward added that, "Anytime we got the opportunity, we tried to use them, that’s how we have managed to win the game. It is a tough season but what we trying to improve game after game, we are hard workers and we always want to win every game.”

The win is big relief for APR and their fans, especially come off the back of a goalless draw against Amagaju FC in midweek and the disappointment of early exit from the CAF Champions League at the hands of Zambian side Zanaco FC.

Meanwhile his counterpart Ivan Mineart said he was disappointed with result, "We were not aggressive enough today. We need to work hard and improve. We had so many chances and should have scored more goals, but we were very poor in-front of their goal.”
