After claiming this year’s Father Emmanuel Kayumba volleyball memorial tournament, Kirehe Volleyball Club are eager to build on that success to try to win their first league title, according to team captain Richard Muhirwa.

The Eastern Province-based side dethroned IPRC-South after finishing the two-day annual tournament with an unbeaten run defeating debutants University of Tourism Technology and Business Studies (UTB) in three straight sets 3-0 (25-22, 25-21 and 25-20) in the final.

Following this triumph, Muhirwa has urged his players to keep the same winning spirit in the league as they seek to win their first league title.

"We have to keep that winning spirit. We need to win every match ahead. We want to improve in every game because we want to stay in the race for the title,” said Muhirwa

This Saturday, Kirehe will host UTB before locking horns with table leaders IPRC-South.

After nine rounds of matches, Kirehe stand in the fifth place with 14 points, six behind leaders IPRC-South, three behind second placed Gisagara, two behind third-placed Rwanda Energy Group (REG) and just one behind fourth APR.
