It was a show of love for music and culture as hundreds graced The Red Rocks Cultural Talent Show which ended on Tuesday in Musanze District.

The three-day show started on February 17 at Red Rocks in Nyakinama village. Culture enthusiasts graced the event, which was characterised by dance, poetry, drama and traditional music.

Performers ranged from children to adults and persons with disabilities focusing on Rwandan culture.

The outstanding performers included Hands of Hope, a group of children that also brews and sells local banana beer for a living, and a 70-year-old Inanga music instrument player, who wowed the audience with her skills.

Greg Bakunzi, the director of Red Rocks Rwanda, noted that the purpose of the monthly event is to bring together the local community, conservation players and their stakeholders in the tourism industry to share insights, and exchange ideas.

"We strive to find collaborative activities to help our guests spend these hours or days together for the benefit of our culture, our people and our wildlife. This has lasting effects on our relationships with one another. They help us maximise our socio-economic benefits and improve our cultural heritage,” he said.

Since its inception in 2011, Red Rocks has been organising monthly events. They include the Cultural Talent Show, which seeks to raise cultural awareness and enhance cultural dialogue; Seed of Hope Festival, which celebrates the planting season of the year; Summer Camp Festival, which offers the local community an opportunity to learn about nature, ecology and wildlife; as well as the popular Christmas Village Market, which offers locals and foreign visitors a memorable Christmas shopping experience in a rural setting.
