Rose Kabuye, the Director of State Protocol who was arrested in Germany, was on Wednesday 19, transferred to France to face trial. It was reported that the French police secretly and swiftly whisked her into court.

Meanwhile in Rwanda, this day was declared a public holiday, and there was a massive protest by Rwandans all over the country, against the unfair arrest of Kabuye.

The Justice Minister Tharcisse Karugarama, during a live radio and television debate on Kabuye’s arrest described the day as sad in the history of international justice, a sad time for diplomacy because international justice is in jeopardy.

In addition, the Foreign Affairs Minister, Rosemary Museminali, said that the day was about Rose, about Rwanda and about Africa.

To encourage others, she said that there is a light at the end of the tunnel because the case against Kabuye is going to reveal many things that have been hidden.

The government issued a statement demanding the immediate release of Kabuye. It stated that Kabuye is an innocent political hostage and called upon the Federal Republic of Germany and France to cease the judicial harassment of Rwandan officials.
