Amb. Sheikh Saleh Habimana, Rwanda’s Ambassador to Tunisia, with residence in Egypt on Tuesday presented his letters of credence to the President of Tunisia, Beji Caid Essebsi.

The presentation ceremony, which was held in the capital Tunis at the State House, was followed by a private discussion in which Habimana extended President Paul Kagame’s greetings to the President.

"I guaranteed him that the already good bilateral relations between Rwanda and Tunisia will be strengthened further due to the existing collaboration between the different leaders our two countries especially the Foreign Ministers,” Habimana told The New Times.

He further emphasized that his discussion with President Essebsi highlighted the need to enhance economic relations in areas that include investment, agriculture and education.

In 2008, a Tunisian company electricity supply company, Société Tunisienne de l’Electricité du Gaz, signed a contract with then called Rwanda’s Electricity and Water Utility Authority (Electrogaz; now REG) to supply cheap electricity to Rwanda and has so far reached different districts of Rwanda as mentioned by Amb. Habimana.

Habimana represents Rwanda’s interests in Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria and Libya with residence in Cairo, Egypt.
