Handball league: Police beat Nyakabanda to open three-point gap on top

Handball league defending champions Police overcame Nyakabanda on Sunday in a very comfortable win to open a three-point gap at the summit of the league table.

Handball league defending champions Police overcame Nyakabanda on Sunday in a very comfortable win to open a three-point gap at the summit of the league table.

The law enforcers side bidding to add on their third successive league title defeated Nyakabanda 37-18 on Sunday at Kimisgara Youth Sports centre ground to make it three wins in three rounds played so far and hence more opening a three-point gap ahead of archrivals and title wannabes APR that had rested.

Nyakabanda’s Dani Niyomukiza scorwed the game’s high nine goals however it wasn’t enough to guide his side to victory.

In other games played on Sunday, new comers ADEGI Gituza from Gatsibo district got off to a flying start at home defeating College Inyeramihigo 26-24 before stunning Groupe Scholaire St. Aloys Rwamagana 31-26 which places them in the fourth place with 6 points.

At Birambo ground in Karongi district, third placed Ecole Secondaire Kigoma with six points defeated Ecole Secondaire Urumuri 43-27 while St. Aloys and College Inyeramihigo shared spoils 24-24 in a game that took place at Gituza ground.

University of Rwanda, Huye campus with one point and Groupe Scholaire Rambura without any point occupy the bottom two slots.
