African leaders should help Zimbabweans

Dear Editor,

It is deeply disappointing that a human being is very determined to watch on negligently as other people suffer and die.

I was watching the news on Rwanda television sometime last week, when I realised that hundreds of thousands of people in Zimbabwe are suffering as African leaders watch.

Remember African problems will only be solved by Africans. We cannot wait for Europeans to solve the Zimbabwe problems.

The SADC countries are trying to broker peace in Zimbabwe but the pace seems slow as the people continue to suffer.
Koffi Anan, the former UN Secretary General, Thabo Mbeki, also former South African President, Nelson Mandela’s wife, have all visited Zimbabwe but in vain. So far, hundreds have and are still dying of cholera.

To stop the suffering in Zimbabwe, a lot more must be done.
