Rwanda Cycling Federation (FERWACY) president, Aimable Bayingana has been re-elected to the board of the Africa Cycling Confederation.

"I have just been re-elected on the board of Africa Cycling Confederation, thanks to my African colleagues for the trust,” Bayingana tweeted, yesterday after the election, which was held in Luxor, Egypt.

Bayingana has been key in the development of cycling, the fastest growing sport in the county.  He played a key role in ensuring that Tour du Rwanda was included on the International Cycling Union calendar in 2009 before embarking on an aggressive talent search from the grassroots that culminated in Rwanda wining the Tour du Rwanda for the first time.

In 2014, Valens Ndayisenga became the first Rwandan to win the prestigious competition five years after it got listed on the International Cycling Union (UCI).

Last year Ndayisenga won the race for the second time.

Bayingana is also credited for playing a pivotal role in setting up of the Africa Cycling Rising Center in Musanze.
