NORTHERN PEOVINCE

MUSANZE — The Institut D’enseignement Superieur De Ruhengeri-INES has launched an English and Communication skills Faculty.

This was revealed during the institution’s first ‘Open Day’ held last week. The day attracted officials from the Ministry of Education, provincial officials and parents, during which the Institute displayed different courses, faculties, technological innovations and activities.

According to the Rector, Dr Deogratius Niyibizi, the special day in the history of the Institute, was aimed at demonstrating what they can offer in terms of skills and knowledge.

He explained that they introduced the English Faculty in line with Rwanda’s integration into the East African Community-where the use of English is required.

In his public lecture, MP Piere Damien Habumeremyi, of the EAC, highlighted Rwanda’s lessons on regional integration, EAC’s customs union, common market and the proposed future political federation of the five member countries.

He challenged Rwandans to build their capacity in order to compete favourably in the EAC in terms of service delivery and knowledge.

The MP observed that the use of English is not only an option but a necessity. Meanwhile, a number of students who had completed short courses in project management, applied accountancy and Public administration, were given certificates on the same day.

The pioneer students at INES have completed their studies and are currently writing their dissertations.
