Don Bosco Gatenga will become the tenth club in the second division league.
The others include; Umubano Blue Tigers (UBT), Lycée de Nyanza (LDN), Rusumo High School, Groupe Scolaire Officielle de Butare (GSOB) , CXR , Petit Seminaire Virgo Fidelis Butare (PSVF), IPRC-East, IPRC West, UR-Huye and UR-CE.
The top two teams will be promoted to the first division next season while the two bottom sides in the national league will be relegated. Last season, UBT and Lycée de Nyanza were relegated.
Meanwhile, the women league, which also kicks off on Saturday, will have eight teams including; Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA), Ruhango, St. Joseph, APR, IPRC-Kigali, Tumba College of Technology, St Aloys, and Lycee de Nyanza.
RRA are the defending champions and will represent Rwanda at this year’s Africa Club Championships which will be held in Tunisia from April 5-16.
The general assembly re-elected Gustave Nkurunziza to lead the local volleyball governing body for another four years. He defeated former Mayor of Gisagara district, Leandre Karekezi by 18 votes against 9.
