After reaching the final of this year’s Heroes’ Day basketball tournament, Integrated Polytechnic Regional Centre-Kigali head coach Albert Buhake is confident that his side has what it takes to beat favourites Espoir on Sunday and scoop their first ever trophy.
The Kicukiro-based IPRC-Kigali have been impressive in the ongoing 2016/17 league campaign, having won four of their first five games, and will go into tomorrow’s final believing they can defy odds against Maxime Mwisseneza’s Espoir.
"Being in the final of this tournament means a lot to IPRC-Kigali since it’s our first ever final and we are preparing for it in the best way possible because we don’t want to just be in the final but to win the title,” said Buhake.
The two sides will meet for the second time in this same tournament after they had been drawn in the same pool (Pool B) with Espoir winning 76-60 to progress to the semi-finals as the group leaders while IPRC-Kigali advanced as runners up.
IPRC-Kigali reached the final after stunning Rwanda Energy Group (REG) 91-82 while Espoir made it to the final after beating defending champions Patriots 73-68, on Wednesday night at Amahoro Indoor Stadium.
