RE: "Violation of governance principles at EAC should not go unpunished” (The New Times, January 30).
Thanks so much to Bela; she put it so rightly. The EAC has failed the citizens of Burundi. Who could have imagined a minute that 23 years after the genocide of Rwandan Tutsi, the world and EAC would let Nkurunziza slaughter Burundians with the help of his allies Interahamwe?
The latter have been re-energized and consider Burundi as steppingstone to attacking Rwanda and carry out "a genocide worse than the previous” as one activist told me.
The EAC doesn’t realize that its betrayal of the Burundi people will come back to haunt them. Ecowas took a decisive stand to save the Gambian people, the EAC cowardice condemned the Burundians to the whims of a delusional man who thinks he was God-chosen to rule Burundi for life and who practices a Christianity of theft, crime, murder and torture of the innocents.
