Newly appointed Mukura Victory Sports head coach Ivan Jacky Minnaert has vowed to turn around the struggling club’s season after penning a six-month contract until the end of the season, subject to extension.

The former Rayon Sports coach was confirmed as the new head coach on Monday by the club after sacking Burundian tactician Godfroid Okoko following a spate of poor results in the national football league.

Minnaert, who has been jobless after parting ways with Kenya’s AFC Leopards in September of last year, has made a pledge of reviving the club’s fortunes and guiding them to finish in the best positions possible.

"I wanted to sign for a club where you are 100% sure that you will be given all you need to perfectly do well your work and they will not interfere in your activities, Mukura is the only club,” said Minnaert.

He further noted that; "What is more important is that the club wants to improve and take a step forward which is also my top target, Rwandans know me and what I am capable of and I want to prove it again with Mukura.”

The Belgian tactician first arrived in Rwanda in 2015 when he joined Rayon Sports from Djoliba AC of Mali replacing David Donadei, who had a short spell (two months) at the club.

However, like his predecessor, Minnaert resigned from his duties after four months to join Kenya’s AFC Leopards where he was also sacked in September last year following a dismal run of games.

Meanwhile, Okoko, a former Amagaju, SC Kiyovu, AS Muhanga and Musanze FC coach, who joined Mukura in 2014, leaves the club in 12th place with 15 points from three wins, six draws and six defeats at the half way mark of the campaign.
