NORTHERN PROVINCE

GICUMBI — About 1,500 youth from the region last week gathered at Byumba Catholic Diocese for a conference aimed at addressing challenges they face.

The three-day event drew participants from Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Burundi and Rwanda the host.

According to the Byumba Diocese youth coordinator, Abbe Jean Marie Dushimiyimana, the annual conference aims at enabling participants to share their common problems, learn the importance of unity and reconciliation and see how they can help implement various government programmes.

He further said the youth would plant trees along the road and clear the bush near residential houses as part of their activities.
