APR basketball club are aiming to continue their winning streak in the 2016/17 season when they take on Rusizi on Saturday at Groupe Scolaire Gihundwe court in Rusizi District.
The three-time FIBA-Africa Zone V champions, who are looking for a first title since 2010, are the only unbeaten side in the league after four games, having beaten two of the title hopefuls Espoir and IPRC-South.
Cliff Owuor’s team have however played two games less than table leaders Espoir, who have 10 points while defending champions Patriots, REG and IPRC-Kigali are second, third and fourth respectively with nine points each.
Rusizi have eight points in sixth place having won two and lost four of their six games played so far but they will offer APR a real run for their money.
"We expect a difficult game mainly due to fatigue; it’s a long journey from Kigali to Rusizi but also a strong Rusizi that will be at home. We want to keep our unbeaten run,” said Owuor.
Rusizi will be forced to play with caution as they have another crucial game against the champions Patriots on Sunday at the same venue.
In another game today, the bottom two sides CSK and 30-Plus will be up against each other at Amahoro Indoor Stadium.
On Sunday, there will be just one game in the women league on Sunday when reigning Play-offs champions Ubumwe face The Hoops, at Amahoro Indoor Stadium.
