Canada based scriptwriter and film director, Joseph Bitamba is in the country for the premiere of Ishyaka, a documentary film about the transformation of Rwanda over the last 22 years.

Ishyaka, will premiere tomorrow at the Gacuriro based, Kwetu Film Institute, starting at 6p.m and entrance is free.

Post production manager Liane Muhoza said the film was shot in Rwanda, and it took the Canada based Burundian filmmaker, more than 20 years to complete the production process.

"With Rwanda’s peace being restored, the country is proud to send its troops to serve as peace keepers and mediators in conflict zones across the world. With enough time invested in this project, it captures Rwanda’s success story in the best way possible,” she said.

The documentary tells the story of the peace and development Rwanda enjoys today after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi more than 20 years ago, and the path to reconciliation.

Bitamba is also a scenarist with many awards from International film festivals. He has co-produced several documentary films, television reports, sketches, cartoon and theatre, on topics related to international issues. He has also managed International crews in difficult situations.
