The Rwandan ambassador to Indonesia, with residence in Singapore, Guillaume Kavaruganda on Thursday presented his letter of credence to Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

Kavaruganda presented his credentials at the Indonesian President's Istana Maderke Office alongside the designate Ambassadors from the United States, Mauritius, France, Marshall Islands, Bangladesh, Morocco and Portugal.

In a Private meeting following the presentation of credentials, the President and the Rwandan envoy appreciated the existing bilateral ties between Rwanda and Indonesia and called for further strengthening of trade and investments between the two countries.

According to a statement, the two leaders also alluded to exploring cooperation in aviation and agriculture among others.

Indonesia is the 7th biggest country globally with a total population of 240 million people. It is bordered by Singapore, Australia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Malaysia, East Timor and Palau.

Economically, Indonesia has large mineral deposits, petroleum, Agro products, and tourism among others.

Indonesia's Ambassador to Rwanda is based in the Republic of Tanzania.

Last year, the government of Indonesia removed visa requirements for all Rwandans Travelling to Indonesia for stays not exceeding 30 days.
