Justice for the victims is not being served by his decisions. The magnitude of the crimes and the types of evidence that were allowed to be presented in the courtroom are radically different from crimes and procedures in a western court, yet he feels compelled to judge from his very narrow legal insights and realities.
He has not had the courtroom experience necessary to grasp the practical logistics of presenting evidence from fragile humans with warm beating hearts that have been shattered and crushed. He also missed the real and present danger to peace in the region that releasing these men can cause.
I truly hope that Rwanda makes her voice heard at the United Nations and that he [Judge Meron] can be removed from the bench before he releases more extremely evil men (the masterminds of the Genocide against the Tutsi).
