This may not be clear to most people, but the genocides against the Tutsi, which began in the late 50’s, were orchestrated by colonial powers because they understood that a certain group of people will never allow them to turn that region (and the continent in general) into another settlers’ colony.
Editor, RE: "UK’s role in 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi” (The New Times, January 3).
This may not be clear to most people, but the genocides against the Tutsi, which began in the late 50’s, were orchestrated by colonial powers because they understood that a certain group of people will never allow them to turn that region (and the continent in general) into another settlers’ colony. And of course they worked with an extremist regime to exterminate that particular group because they were "gênants” as the French say.
Until we Africans come to this uncomfortable realization, we will always see a friendly smile instead of the corrupt soul at the very center of Western regimes. This may sound like an anti-Western stance, which it isn’t, but spades need to be called spades!
