Police were unbeaten in 10 league games following their 3-0 loss to Rayon Sport in the league opener and have been tipped to be among the top title contenders for this season. However, their winning streak was brought to a halt by SC Kiyovu that defeated them 2-1 at Kicukiro stadium.

A brace from striker Jean-Claude Nizeyimana was enough to hand Aloys Kanamugire’s side the crucial three points following a dismal run of games.

Nizeyimana broke the deadlock in the 13th minute, thanks to a Yamin Salum assist hence going into the first half break leading 1-0. Rejuvenated Police came into the second half aggressively looking for an equaliser and it paid in the 56th minute with Justin Micho converting a Mirafa Nizeyimana assist.

Kiyovu that looked sharper regained their lead in the 71st minute after Nizeyimana scored his second goal of the day from Andre Lomami pass, which happened to be the deciding goal that saw Kiyovu move to the 8th place with 15 points while Police dropped to the fourth place with 21 points.

In other games, Sunrise at home in Nyagatare defeated Gicumbi FC 2-0 while AS Kigali also beat Etincelles 1-0 at Kigali Regional Stadium with Musanze and Bugesera settling for a 1-all draw at Nyakinama stadium in Musanze.
