Kenyan Premier League giants, Gor Mahia have signed Rwandan holding midfielder Jean Baptiste ‘Migi’ Mugiraneza on a two year contract deal, Saturday Sport understands.

The midfielder, who turns 26 in February next year, has been in the country after he was released by Tanzanian side Azam FC two weeks ago. He was officially unveiled as a Gor player on Thursday evening.

Mugiraneza becomes the club’s first signing of the transfer window. Initially talks with the player failed when Gor stalked the Rwanda international in April last year.

Apparently, the arrival of Migi means the Nairobi-based club will have to part ways with one of the foreign players in their squad.

Before Migi, Gor Mahia had five foreigners including three Rwandans; Meddie Kagere, Abouba Sibomana and Jacques Tuyisenge. The others are Burundi’s Karim Nizigiyimana and Ugandan Godfrey Walusimbi.

Mugiraneza revealed that: "I had offers from Vietnamese club and one back home but my goal is to play for Gor Mahia. They are a huge club with a rich history and I cannot turn down an offer to play for them.”

Gor Mahia finished last season without any trophy and are targeting to strengthen their squad as they challenge for titles in 2017.
