Rwanda Ultimate Frisbee Association (RUFA) has been officially accepted as a member of the World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF).

The decision to accept Rwanda and the other three new members; Bolivia, Cambodia and Uruguay was announced last week by the WFDF Congress bringing their membership to 71. WFDF also announced that a further six members could be added in the first half of 2017.

In a statement, Robert Rauch, the WFDF President explained that, "after a thorough and multi-year development and evaluation process conducted by WFDF in close co-operation with the new member associations, the applications sent in by the RUFA, BFDA, CFDA and UFU were accepted by the WFDF Congress upon recommendation of the Board of Directors unanimously.”

"I am extremely delighted about this announcement of the approval of these four new members, particularly given that we continue to grow on our emerging continents, with two new members in South America, one from Africa and another from Asia,” Rauch further noted

The president of Rwanda Ultimate Frisbee Association, Michael Tignor, said that they are "thrilled to be accepted” as a member of the WFDF.

Ultimate Frisbees was launched in Rwanda in September last year. Ultimate Frisbees clubs in Rwanda include: Ultimate Sharp Shooters, Kigali Ultimate Flying Gorillas, Ultimate Deep Blues and Ultimate Tough Team.
