Rwanda will take advantage of the forthcoming Aviation Africa 2017 summit to woo more investors into the local aviation sector, officials have said. The country will host the second edition of Aviation Africa series that is slated for February 22-23, 2017. The first event was held in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates in May this year.

The Africa Aviation series seek to foster dialogue and build sustainable networks in the continent’s aviation sector supply chain, as well as create a competitive environment for businesses.

Tony Barigye, the Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority (RCAA) head of communications and public relations, said the two-day event will also discuss many aspects of the aviation industry, including commercial, military, business, infrastructure development, as well as regulatory and safety issues.

Barigye added that the aviation agency expects major deals to be concluded during the summit, saying the country will be hosting the event while seeking investments in supportive activities, like logistics.

He said the event will also showcase the latest aviation services and products, adding that preparations by RCAA and co-organisers were in advanced stages to ensure a successful event.

The conference is being organised by the Ministry of Infrastructure and RCAA and supported by Times Aerospace Events, Aerocomm Ltd and Access Group.

It will attract 500 delegates, including aviation experts, bankers, key market players, government representatives and policy-makers.
