The Inter-Faith Action for Peace in Africa (IFAPA), a continental body that brings together religious heads from different parts of Africa, has condemned the arrest of Director of State Protocol, Rose Kabuye. It’s comprised of the leaders of the Islamic, African Traditional, Baha’i, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, and Judaist faiths.

According to Sheikh Saleh Habimana, the Mufti of Rwanda, IFAPA Commissioners heard of the arrest of Kabuye during their third ordinary session held in Entebbe, Uganda recently. He added that IFAPA immediately issued a statement condemning the action.

The statement reads in part that the arrest of Kabuye would affect peace in the region and requested for the quickening of the establishment of the African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU) joint structure for handling and dealing with such cases under the "Joint African Union-European Union Committee on the Issue of Universal Jurisdiction”.

Mufti Habimana said that the religious leaders are collectively organising prayers to petition the Germans. He said that the IFAPA’s declaration is aimed at calling on the whole world to condemn what the Germans have done.
