Bugesera FC coach Vincent Mashami is impressed with striker Farouk Ruhinda Ssentongo’s performance and believes the former APR player is key to the team’s ambitions this season.

After a lengthy spell on the sidelines at APR over the last two seasons because of an injury, the Uganda-born forward appears to be returning to his top form after netting his fifth goal of the campaign on Sunday.

He’s fine performance has fired the Eastern Province team to eighth position on the league table with 12 points after 8 rounds of matches.

"He is not playing at 100 per cent but you can see how promising he is, he’s working hard and that is the kind of player that coaches need in their teams. We expect him to score more goals this season,” Mashami told Times Sport.

The 22-year-old has scored some of the important goals, including the opener against Kiyovu (3-0) not forgetting the fantastic goal against Marines (1-0) and in the 1-all draw against Sunrise FC draw. Despite his team suffering a 2-1 defeat against Police, Ruhinda netted the beautiful consolation.

Mashami, who also worked with the player at APR in the last two seasons, noted that, "Now he looks stronger, determined and agile, and he has only played six matches.”

Ruhinda was among the nine players released by the army side ahead of this season. Bugesera FC will next face 14th-placed Gicumbi (8 points) at the weekend.
