THE 7th Edition of the EAC Inter-Parliamentary Games, staged from December 3-11 in Mombasa, Kenya, concluded over the weekend.
Rwanda beat Kenya in the women’s volleyball category 2-0 (25-15; 25-19), which is a second consecutive win after winning the tournament last year in Kigali while the men’s team lost in the final against Kenya (2-0 (31-29; 25-20).
Agnes Mukazibera was named the best player of the tournament in volleyball. Senator Consolee Uwimana was awarded as best attacker and Petronille Mukandekezi was best blocker while in the men’s category Jean Marie Vianney Gatabazi was named best attacker.
Uganda won the football title after beating Burundi in the final. Uganda also won the netball competition beating Tanzania to the title.
Gatabazi, Damien Nyabyenda and Augustine Habimana were awarded for being the most active players in the football competition. Kenya won the Tug of War, Golf and Athletics.
Last year, the event was held in Rwanda.
The Inter-Parliamentary tournament was first held in Arusha, Tanzania in 2009 to mark the 10th Anniversary of EAC. Since then, EAC Partner States have hosted the Inter-Parliamentary Games on a rotational basis.
