RWANDA’S top long distance runner, Dieudonne Disi has not yet confirmed whether he’ll participate in the 2nd Glo Lagos International Half Marathon set for February 21, 2009 in Lagos, Nigeria.

Disi, who is training daily at Amahoro stadium told Times Sport yesterday that he is yet to confirm his readiness to take part in this half marathon.

He said, "I am waiting for my manager to give me a go-ahead on whether I should be taking part in this event.”

Disi will be hoping that if he participates, he’d be able to win an international event after a series of failed attempts on the European circuit this year.

Though the 28-year-old has not confirmed his participation, the change in date to next year, gives him enough time to make up his mind. Initially, the race was scheduled for December 8.

Some 47 elite runners from Kenya, Ethiopia and Eritrea, among others are expected to feature in the event sponsored by Nigerian telecommunications company Globacom.

They include Kenya’s Robert Cheruiyot, Patrick Mutuku, Chebor Chebon, Kebenei Kiprotich, and Kiron Kibet, all from Kenya.

Others include: Ethiopia’s Haile Gabreselaisse, Debela Adere, Timbilili Jemeli and Magarsa Tafa and Eritrean trio of Yonas Kifles, Yared Asmeron and Tesfayohannes Mesfen of Eritrea among others.

Total prize money of $210,000 will be shared by the top four runners in both the men’s and women’s categories.

Disi won last year’s event and the top cash prize of $50, 000 dollars while Lineth Chepkirut of Kenya took the women’s.
