The 10th edition of the national beach handball tournament starts today and ends on Sunday in Rubavu district at the shores of Lake Kivu, with a total of over 12 teams expected to compete in the annual event.
According to the Rwanda Handball Federation secretary general, Jean Paul Ngarambe, everything is ready for the two-day tournament that will comprise different categories namely; seniors (above 20 years), juniors (U-19), cadet (U-15) in both genders, as well as the veterans.
The Sulfo Rwanda-sponsored tournament is open to all handball clubs in the country and a total of 12 teams had confirmed to participate in the tournament by press time. However, the number is expected to rise to about 20, according to Ngarambe. The teams that had confirmed to participate include; Vision Jeunesse Nouvelle, Rubavu, Stella, Nyakabanda, Warriors and College of Business and Economics in the seniors’ category. In the U16 category, the battles will be between Vision Jeunesse Nouvelle and Rubavu while the veterans’ category will have Vision Jeunesse Nouvelle, Nyakabanda and the Winners.
