After guiding SC Kiyovu to victory against struggling Pipinierre, head coach Aloys Kanamugire has tipped youngster Djuma Nizeyimana to become one of the top players in Rwanda.

On Sunday, SC Kiyovu secured their second win of the season after edging bottom-placed Pepiniere FC 1-0 at Mumena Stadium—the lone strike came in the 62nd minute through Djuma Nizeyimana’s penalty after Hassan Waswa handed the ball in the forbidden area.

The win took the Mumena-based side to 11th place on the table with eight points while Jean Baptiste Kayiranga’s team remains bottom with one point after seven rounds of matches.

During the match against Pipinierre, Nizeyimana created five corners, seven chances in dangerous area, three free kicks, four shots on target and two shots off target. In addition, he made ten successful crosses. He has ability to play behind the strikers, right and left wings.

Kanamugire said, "He is very intelligent on the ball. He has penetration skills and can easily pass through any defence. If given a chance, he can go far, what he needs is to keep working hard.”

Nizeyimana, who was the man of the match, said "I am working hard in training and I believe in myself that I can do much better.”

The 22-year-old is aiming high, "I am working hard to be part of Amavubi and I particularly love to play for the national team, but I want to first work hard and deliver for my club, which I thank for giving me the opportunity to play.”

In 2016, Nizeyimana was named in pre-selection of 32 players when Amavubi was preparing for the 2016 Africa Nations Championships (CHAN), under coach, Johnny McKinstry but he did not make the final team list.
