According to Coach Eric Gakwaya, Kagaba is supposed to join the camp this week.
"We hope we will have a strong team in the league because we signed Kagaba who is good and other good players,” Gakwaya said.
Established in 2016, Gisagara will be looking to challenge for the top position in their debut and they started preparations last week on Wednesday.
"We started training last Wednesday, and we have to prepare well for the league because we will be facing the best teams in the country,” he noted.
Gisagara VC alongside University of Tourism Technology and Business Studies (UTB) and Rwanda Energy Group (REG) volleyball club are new teams to compete in the men’s national league.
The Southern Province-based side signed several players including senior players like Pierre Marshal Kwizera, a former Kirehe coach; left attackers Patrick Kavalo Akumuntu (University of Kibungo (UNIK) and Flavien Ndamukunda (Rayon Sports).
Others are central player William Mudahemuka, setter Thierry Mugabo, both from UNIK and libero Emile Ian Dada Karera (APR).
They also signed 18-year-old, setter Cedrick Ngaboyintwari (Petit Seminaire Virgo Fiodelis de Butare- Karubanda), right attacker from UR-Huye, Aimable Nkuranga, and promoted young player Modeste Niyibaho.
University of Kibungo (UNIK) are the defending champions in men’s category while RRA are the defending champions in the women’s league. Both UNIK and RRA will represent Rwanda at the 2017 Africa Club Championships. Meanwhile, the women’s league is expected to kick off on January 21, 2017. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
