Rayon Sports head coach Djuma Masudi has once again hailed the Blues supporters as the league leaders go into today’s encounter with Amagaju FC in Nyamagabe seeking to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.
Masudi’s side haven’t lost in six matches, winning five and drawing one, and lead the table with 16 points, and the coach was once again quick to point out that the support the players gets from their loyal fans has been crucial to the team’s impressive run.
Speaking to Sunday Sport ahead of today’s game, the former Rayon Sports skipper revealed, "The crowd has been really good for us, they have played a key role in our winning run, when the teams is looking for the goals, the fans have been the 12th player. We can’t take their support for granted.”
The former league champions maintained their unbeaten run with a 1-0 win over Bugesera FC on match day six, last weekend, at Kigali Regional Stadium, thanks to Olivier Seff Niyonzima 78th minute strike.
Masudi also hailed the players, saying that, "I am was really happy with the way my players stayed in the game and being patient for the goal.”
"As players and the coaching staff, we have a football situation of working hard and looking for the goals but I also believe the atmosphere in the stadium has been key to winning games,” noted the former Burundi international striker.
Meanwhile, defending champions APR FC cut the gap on the league leaders to five points and a game in hand after beating Etincelles 2-1 on Friday at Kigali Regional Stadium.
Issa Bigirimana and Djihad Bizimana netted in either half to ensure a perfect start for new head coach Jimmy Mulisa.
Kambale Salita Gentil scored the consolation goal for Etincelles, his sixth goal of the season to go joint top of scorers with Dany Usengimana of Police FC.
The win has propelled the military side to fourth spot on 11 points with two games in hand against Pepiniere FC and Kirehe FC. Etincelles FC remains in third spot with 12 points in seven matches.
