Newly appointed head coach Jimmy Mulisa will be hoping to convince his bosses that he is the right man for the APR dugout with a winning start when the defending champions take on Etincelles at Kigali Regional Stadium this afternoon on match-day 7 in the Azam Rwanda Premier League.

Mulisa, who has been working as the interim coach for the national team (Amavubi) and assistant technical director at FERWAFA, has been thrown in the deep waters for his first professional and daunting coaching job to replace Yves Rwasamanzi, who was dropped to be his assistant coach.

Speaking to Times Sport on Thursday after conducting his first training session at Kicukiro stadium ahead of his eagerly anticipated debut, against Emmanuel Ruremesha’s Etincelles today.

Mulisa said; "The mission of the club is to win every match in order to lift the league title again. We have a set of players ready for the task; we try to take it game by game, starting with Friday’s (today) match against Etincelles.”

"I have not had enough time to work with the team to prepare for Friday’s game, but, at least, I know every player and this will help me, especially for the first match but you can see that the team is ready and players are responding well” he noted.

The former Rwanda International will be assisted by Rwasamanzi (first assistant coach), former teammate at APR (2002-2005) Didier Bizimana (second assistant coach), and Ibrahim Mugisha who will be in charge of the goalkeepers.

Meanwhile, for Ruremesha, a win against APR would see his on-form side move to within one point of leaders Rayon Sports (16 points) that will be playing their game on Sunday against Amagaju, at Nyagisenyi turf in Nyamagabe.

"We respect APR because they are a strong team with talented players but we will try to put up a good performance and try to win the game. We need a win to move into good positions. We have been doing well and I believe that my players will keep the same spirit,” said Ruremesha.

APR are currently eighth with 8 points despite having played two games less with Kirehe and Pepinierre fixtures yet to be played, while Etincelles are in the third position with 12 points from six games.
