More artistes finally ‘see the light’
Whether you are a celebrity or not, the choice of faith is never something that most people pick interest in but Prophet Eric Sultan of ‘Zeal of the Gospel’ is one of the latest rising self-proclaimed prophets, who seems to be attracting attention and, a good number of local artistes.
First, female rapper Young Grace who was born Christina, converted to Islam and is now back to being a Christian. Then rapper Bull Dog, rising RnB artiste Aime Bluestone, Lil G, Urban Boyz’ Nizzo, and Anita Pendo followed suit.
Interestingly, rumour has it that there’s a standard price of Rwf 20,000 that one must pay to be part of this church.
Are our artistes finally seeing the light or is there more to the story than we know? We will keep you posted.
The Ben and Ganza fight over ‘Habibi’ video idea
When The Ben, Rwanda’s US-based music artiste, released the video version of his hit song Habibi four months ago, the jam caught on like a bushfire. Many music enthusiasts took to social media to express their excitement over his talent as well as that of the song’s producer only known as Cedru.
However, news reaching our desk tells us that the two are accused of having ‘stolen’ the video idea from a different US based producer known as Innocent Ganza, who works with a company called Associates Video Production. The details we have indicate that The Ben and Cedru had agreed with Ganza to "give the company name credit in the music video,” but later changed their minds when the editing was done.
Ganza released another video version of Habibi under his company name but it was temporarily removed from YouTube after he was requested to show the original footage of the video. Our sources say the producer is yet to have legal approval to release the new version.
Cedru is the man behind the production of videos for Meddy’s Nasara, I am in love by The Ben and Ntibisanzwe by King James, among others.
Who is telling the truth and who is lying? We will keep an eye on this one.
Did Miss Rwanda bleach her skin?
Reigning Miss Rwanda Jolly Mutesi is currently competing for the annual Miss World 2016 crown but she seems to be making news for a totally different reason.
The internet is awash with photos of the beauty queen before and after photos comparing her skin tone to previous years where she was shades darker.
The social media commentators have taken their interest in Mutesi’s changing skin tone to a new level with some comparing her to the late American pop singer Michael Jackson, who famously bleached his skin; confusing many whether he was white or black.
In other news, we are told that Mutesi was not selected among the top 21 Miss World Talent contestants. Although the Miss World Talent event is not a compulsory competition, contestants who participate in the event get to earn major points that will help them in the final round of the Miss World competition.
Could she be bleaching her skin or is it the photography lighting that is being misinterpreted? We are digging for old photos. Keep reading.
Tiffah Dangote receives a ‘Bentley’
Everyone wishes for generous friends and relatives but if there is one person who is benefitting handsomely from the generosity of such, it is Tiffah Dangote. The daughter of Tanzanian singer Diamond and socialite Zari Hassan, who is barely two years old and is already a beneficiary of a contract that her parents signed with a clothes and shoes designer, is now enjoying a baby Bentley bought for her by Zodwa Mkandla; a socialite and the boss of Traverze Travel, a leading leisure and business travel management company in Zimbabwe.
The toddler is already a proud owner of an Instagram account with one million followers, which is more than most established celebrities.
Is Liza Kamikazi switching to Gospel music?
The last time we heard of Liza Kamikazi, real name Solange Umuhire, was when she was celebrating her wedding anniversary with husband David Wald, but it seems the singer has been very busy working on new material. The singer, who became popular for her smooth folklore vocals in songs like Ngukunde Nte, Mwanawa, and Nkiri Muto, to name a few, is said to be taking a new direction switching from social change and traditional related music to gospel.
The singer started off by dropping her first gospel single which she dubbed Ndaje. More interestingly, Kamikazi’s song was produced by renowned veteran producer; Aaron Niyitunga, commonly known as Tunga. Is this a completely new music direction or is the humanitarian singer simply trying out new things? Only time will tell.
