The cycling fraternity is in shock following the sudden death of Rwanda Cycling Federation (FERWACY) first Vice President Lambert Byemayire at King Faisal Hospital on Monday morning.
The news about Byemayire’s death first circulated on social media early Monday before being confirmed by the Federation’s Secretary General Emmanuel Murenzi in a phone interview."It’s true Byemayire has passed on but we cannot comment any further until his family does so,” Murenzi told The New Times. However, sources in FERWACY have revealed that Byemayire started feeling unwell during stage three of the just concluded 2016 Tour du Rwanda (Karongi- Rusizi) and has been sick since then. The deceased got elected to the post unopposed in December 2010, replacing François Rutayisire.
