On-form Rayon Sport have maintained their unbeaten run after cruising past stubborn Bugesera FC by a 1-0 win at Kigali Regional Stadium yesterday. The win saw Rayon Sport extend their lead on top of Azam Rwanda Premier League table.

Midfielder Olivier ‘Sefu’ Niyonzima scored the lone goal from a corner kick with only nine minutes to stoppage time, which handed Djuma Masudi Irambona’s side the crucial points of the day after several clear cut chances they had missed earlier in the game.

Rayon Sport dominated Vincent Mashami’s Bugesera FC in the first forty five minutes, but did not manage to break the deadlock after forwards Moussa Camara, Pierrot Kwizera and Savio Nshuti failed to convert their chances.

In the second half, Bugesera tried to make their presence felt as they pilled pressure on their defense but golie Eric ‘Bakame’ Ndayishimiye easily kept them at bay.

Rayon upped their efforts from the 60th minute displaying too much footwork and creating several chances but the back of the net eluded them.

In the 81st minute, Rayon got a corner that was curled into the box by Nshuti finding Niyonzima that perfectly headed it into the back of the net to bag three points for Rayon.

Following this win, the Peace Cup reigning champions that are yet to lose after six games played, stand at the summit with 16 points, a six point lead of their close rivals Sunrise which stands in second place with 10 points despite having played a game less.
