After seeing his side edge Gicumbi FC 1-0 on match day six of the Azam Rwanda Premier League on Wednesday at Kigali Regional Stadium, Nyamirambo, AS Kigali head coach Eric Nshimiyimana has urged his players to maintain their consistency.
Midfielder Tumaine ‘Titi’ Ntamuhanga netted the lone goal in the 58th minute to hand AS Kigali a third spot, jointly sharing 10 points with Sunrise who are second and Police who are fourth.
"We have to give our best in every match because we missed to win some matches in the last fixtures but we have to be ready, and winning will give us more confidence and a chance of closing the gap with top teams. I am happy to win but we missed many chances to score,” Nshimiyimana said.
"It is unfortunate that we have not scored more goals but I am happy with the result. To score more goals brings confidence but we will continue to work hard because we need to get back to our top level” he added.
AS Kigali have won three games, lost two and drew one.
Gicumbi head coach Hussein Baraka said "We need to be more focused, determined and also believe that we have the ability to beat any team in league. We have to turn things around.”
Gicumbi are in 12th position with 4 points having won only one and drew one games in six rounds. They will play their next game against Marines.
Meanwhile, today, AS Kigali will head to Kenya’s third largest city, Kisumu, ahead of the 8th edition of the East Africa Local Authorities Sports and Culture Associations (EALASCA) Games.
