20 Kung Fu clubs will contest in the final of the 2016 National Championship slated for this Sunday at Petit Amahoro Stadium, according to Rwanda Kung Fu Federation president, Jackson Mucyo Havugimana.
The championship will include the best teams that qualified from the preliminaries that were staged in three different zones including Kigali, Ngoma in the Eastern Province and Muhanga in the Southern Province earlier this month attracting a total of 24 clubs.
Kigali will be represented by eleven clubs; Eastern Province will have three clubs, Southern province three, while the Western Province will have two clubs with the Northern Province fielding only one club.
The event will be the second edition since February 2015 when the local federation officially became recognised by the International Kung Fu Federation (IKF).
Havugimana further noted that after this championship, the federation will introduce a new initiative dubbed "Rwanda Youth Kung Fu Festive” in December across the country in a bid to promote the sport.
"The primary objective for this campaign will be to promote and develop the sport.”
