Rwanda National Paralympics Committee (NPC) will organise a women sitting volleyball tournament to celebrate the World Disability Day on November 25-26 in Musanze District.

The competition is part of activities to mark the International Day of People with Disability.

The day is aimed to encourage a better understanding of people affected by physical disability as well as helping to make people more aware of the rights, dignity and welfare of disabled people.

Six women sitting volleyball teams, divided in two Pools, will compete in the two-day event—the teams include; Gakenke, Bugesera and Gasabo in Pool A while Ruhango, Gicumbi and Musanze are on Pool B.

The tournament is dubbed "CMB” because of the main sponsor (previously Christian Blind Mission) the International Christian development organization committed to improving the quality of life of people with disabilities in the poorest communities.

NPC president Celestin Nzeyimana has said, the tournament is aimed at developing women sitting volleyball in the country.

Nzeyimana further pointed out that the winner will walk away with a trophy, on top of Rwf250,000, while the first and second runners up will pocket Rwf200,000 and Rwf150,000 respectively.

Besides the sitting volleyball tourney in Musanze, a different competition named "IPC Athletics Kigali Meeting” will also be organized for athletes representing different districts to contest in the track and field on November 27 at Amahoro National Stadium.
