Television content should be regulated

Editor,

RE: "Why you need to regulate how much television your child watches” (The New Times, November 23). The Ministry of Local Government (which oversees the media) and to which the Media High Council (in charge of media policy enforcement) reports needs to enforce the media policy in relation to content allowed in the local media (TV, radio, internet and print).

I was shocked to see some movies with nude scenes being shown on a local private TV at 11a.m. There was a time when pornographic movies were being sold openly by DVD hawkers on Kigali streets.

I call upon Media High Council and the Ministry of Local Government to help us regulate content in our media with a particular emphasis on content that’s appropriate for young children and youth.
