Club spokesperson Roben Ngabo confirmed the development, revealing that Esenu had requested an early release to explore fresh opportunities before the closure of the January transfer window.
"Although his contract was scheduled to conclude on January 30, he expressed his desire for an early release. We granted his request," he noted.
Esenu, who previously played for Ugandan giants KCCA FC, joined Rayon Sports in January 2022.
It is understood that the decision not to extend his contract was based on performance-related factors.
As Esenu moves on to the next challenge, Rayon Sports have strengthened their attacking line by securing the services of two new strikers during the ongoing January transfer window.
Senegalese forward Alon Paul Gomis and Guinean striker Alsény Camara have joined the club and are expected to be key assets in the second round of the league.
As for Esenu's future, it is reported that he is currently in negotiations to join Gasogi United.
