Rwandan artist Nirere Shanel is making waves in the music industry once again with her latest release, 'Uzaze EP.' The six-song extended play, dropped on Friday, January 5.

"This is not just a collection of tracks; it's a heartfelt exploration of womanhood, challenging societal norms through the language of music,” Nirere said.

Collaborating with Rwandan rapper Ish Kevin on the track &039;Ndeka,' Shanel embraces the transformative power of her mother tongue, Ikinyarwanda. She also encourages listeners to delve into the nuanced meanings and societal implications embedded in each lyrical expression, especially on the track "Ndabaza Sindega" (I am not accusing, I am just asking).

Shanel, who moved to France in 2012 and currently resides in South Africa, emphasizes the importance of expressing desires openly, particularly for women. "Uzaze EP aims to spark conversations and explore how breaking the silence can catalyze personal and societal transformation,” she said.

The artiste's musical journey with 'Uzaze EP' began four years ago, working with a diverse team of producers, including Pajaro Canzani from Uruguay, Juan De Maria from Mexico, and Donald Whelan from the UK.

Shanel blends South American musical influences with Rwandan sounds. The EP also features collaborations with local talents like Micheal Makembe, Madebeats and Pastor P, known for the hit song "Ndarota."
