Tour du Rwanda: Eyob wins stage 5, Ndayisenga retains yellow jersey

Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka rider Metkel Eyob has won the stage five of ongoing Tour du Rwanda, from Muhanga to Musanze, a distance of 125.8km with a time 3h15'57'.

In second place was Benediction Club’s Patrick Byukusenge with the same time while Team Rwanda rider Hategeka, who lead held a 1’02” lead with 5km left but was chased and caught by the peloton where Eyob, 23, made the attack two kilometers to the finishing line.

The race overall leader Valens Ndayisenga of Dimension Data for Qhubeka finished in 18th place, 46 seconds behind Eyob. With his win, Eyob moved to within 43 seconds behind leader Ndayisega in general classification.

Ndayisenga continue to wear best young rider award, best Rwandan award and best African award, while 18-year old debutant Samuel Mugisha, riding for Rubavu-based Benediction Club, keeps the best climber jersey after collected a total of 87 points in five stages.
