As Rwanda continues to position itself as a tourism destination in the region and beyond, most of the fields in the hospitality sector including entertainment, have continued to register substantial investments.

STS Trade Ltd, under its brand Poliakov Vodka, has teamed up with Chillax Lounge to kick-start ‘Poliakov Unplugged’, a new initiative which seeks to support local semi-professional artistes to promote their talents and music in general.

According to Anthony J. Kateeba, the company’s marketing manager, this is part of their commitment to provide platforms for local artists through which they could express and amplify their art to a wider audience.

"We aim at granting these unheard-of artistes to showcase their amazing talents, creating space to for them to entertain, and have people interact with their music which lacked options to be heard commercially,” he said.

Poliakov in partnership with Chillax Lounge will unplug a new artiste every Thursday at their signature theme night, dubbed "The Chillax Ladies Night”, according to Kateeba.

Already, the two companies have started engaging with local promoters to identify raw talents, polish them and provide a platform for them to grow and change to succeed in the industry.

"It’s not only giving them a platform to expose their talent, we shall be having an established artiste at the end of every week to share a stage with them. We’ll also be facilitating them financially,” noted Kateeba.

The inaugural event will take place this Thursday, November 17 at the Nyarutarama based lounge.
