Three-time Peace Cup winners AS Kigali will lock horns with rivals APR FC in what serves as the biggest fixture of the round of 16 of the competition.
It will be a repeat of the 2021/22 edition when the Citizens beat APR 1-0 in the final to lift the title.
AS Kigali have been looking vulnerable in the first round of the Primus National League to the point that they are finding themselves in the relegation zone.
The club has recently been struggling to clear players’ wages but it is now showing signs of recovery since former club president Fabrice Shema made a U-turn on his resignation decision to return and put the club back in his daily responsibilities.
AS Kigali, now under new head coach Guy Bukasa, advanced to the round of 16 of the Peace Cup after eliminating Etincelles from the preliminary round with a 4-2 aggregate victory.
The team will now have to throw APR out of their way if they are to win their fourth Peace Cup but it looks like a hilly task considering that Thierry Froger also has his sights set on a double and eliminating the City of Kigali-sponsored side is the only solution to keep his hopes alive.
