Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Donatille Mukabalisa and her parliamentary delegation, yesterday, called on the Rwandan community in Stockholm to think and act big so as to speed up ongoing development efforts in Rwanda.

The Rwandan lawmakers are in Sweden at the invitation of the Swedish parliament. The visit follows missions to Rwanda by two Swedish parliamentary committees and several trade delegations on different occasions since the beginning of the year.

"Rwanda has set a very high bar for everything and we keep raising this bar every day,” Mukabalisa said at a packed venue in downtown Stockholm.

"We don’t only dream big; we also act big. There is evidence to that effect everywhere across Rwanda”, the Speaker said.

The delegation includes Juliana Kantengwa, Veneranda Nyirahirwa and Jean Marie Vianney Gatabazi.

Rwanda’s envoy to the Nordic countries, Amb. Christine Nkulikiyinka, lauded the lawmakers’ meeting with the Rwandan community in Sweden.

She said the visit by the parliamentarians to Sweden was an indication of not only the strong bilateral relations between Sweden and Rwanda but also the value the Rwandan government attaches to Rwandan communities abroad.

The Rwandan lawmakers will hold several meetings with their Swedish counterparts, including the Speaker of the Swedish parliament, Urban Ahlin, and several parliamentary committees.

The delegation will also meet top Swedish government officials, give a lecture at the law faculty of Uppsala University, Scandinavia’s oldest University, and meet friends of Rwanda.
