The Private Sector Federation (PSF) in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce are to assist rural entrepreneurs form cooperatives and professional associations.

The move is to help the entrepreneurs improve their skills in arts and crafts, Epaphrodite Binamungu, the president of chamber of crafts for Artists and Artisans in PSF said.

"We are going to professionalise these people in their cooperatives to international standards through intensive training. We want their products to compete internationally,” he said.

Binamungu urged rural entrepreneurs to form cooperatives to ease the difficulties of exchanging ideas at their work place.

Through these cooperatives, he said, the PSF is ready to help with access to information on international markets, product prices and other export related barriers.

Binamungu said his chamber will also help rural entrepreneurs to access loans from different financial institutions. Commerce ministry provided the training to rural entrepreneurs in different areas of development.
