At 76 years, Myriam Makeba, died last week in Italy of a heart attack. She is famous because she sung songs against racism during South Africa’s apartheid regime. This made the government at that time deny her citizenship for 30 years.
Though she was born in South Africa, she spent most of her life in exile in Guinea. She finally returned home when Nelson Mandela became president of South Africa. Many Africans loveher songs and she will be dearly missed.
