Rwanda men’s national volleyball team captain Christophe Mukunzi has undergone successful knee surgery in Bulgaria and is expected to sign a one-year deal with first division side, VC Marek Union-Ivkoni.
The 27-year-old right-attacker travelled to Bulgaria two weeks ago, thanks to national team coach Paul Bitok, who connected him to VC Marek Union-Ivkoni. He is expected to return to the field before the end of December.
Last season, Mukunzi suffered a meniscus tear in Turkey in Payas Belediye club but he was promised by VC Marek Union-Ivkoni to be operated on before he could play for them next year.
Speaking to Saturday Sport from Bulgaria, Mukunzi said, "Everything went well and I am feeling fine. I believe I will come back stronger and hopefully start playing for my new team in January.”
